What is D-Chiro Inositol? The Overlooked Form of Inositol Most people first hear about inositol through myo-inositol. But there’s another form — D-Chiro Inositol (DCI) — that plays a different role in the body. D-chiro inositol acts as an aromatase inhibitor which can encourage much needed balance in certain people. See which inositol is right for you with this QUIZ! The problem?
Most people don’t get meaningful amounts of D-Chiro Inositol from diet alone. While the body can produce DCI by converting other inositol forms, this conversion isn’t always efficient — and some people are unable to convert enough - which is why many people look for DCI specifically. Chiral Balance delivers 600 mg of pure D-Chiro Inositol per capsule in a clean, USA-made, NSF-certified formula — the highest single-ingredient capsule available in the world. If you’ve been researching DCI, this may be the simplest way to incorporate it into your routine. For many people, DCI is the targeted approach they didn’t realize they were missing.

How to Use
General usage guidelines. Listen to your body and consult your healthcare provider for personalised advice.
|
1
Determine Your Serving
1 capsule daily if under 130 lbs. 2 capsules daily if over 130 lbs. Find what works for you.
|
2
Take Before a Meal
Take 15–20 minutes before your first meal of the day to allow time to absorb.
|
3
Split the Dose (Optional)
If taking 2 capsules, one before breakfast and one before lunch or dinner works well.

4
Be Consistent
Consistency is key with any dietary supplement. Try to take DCI at the same time daily.

Here are some answers.
The word "inositol" refers to a family of closely related substances and often refers to the most common available form, myo-inositol.
D-chiro-inositol is a very special member of that family. The body needs DCI when responding to sugar disposal. When we eat the body decides whether to burn sugar for energy or to store it as fat for later. DCI is considered an important secondary messenger and a "sensitizer" to help with this process. DCI is difficult to get from diet, therefore, the human body has to make DCI.
Some people's bodies are not efficient at making DCI.
YES!! We are proud to say our Chiral Balance D-chiro inositol 600mg is tested and certified by NSF International - an independent and accredited nongovernmental organization whose mission is to protect and improve global human health.
Certified products and systems earn the NSF mark, which is respected by consumers, manufacturers, retailers and regulatory agencies. Deeply rooted in science, they are widely recognized as the “gold standard” for quality. Click on the blue NSF logo above to see our Certifications
Men, women and children use DCI. Many Health Practitioners recommend it for a variety of reasons.
Inositol functions as a secondary messenger for serotonin and dopamine, neurotransmitters that send signals back and forth between the brain and other systems in the body. Low levels of inositol may disrupt this signaling.
Some cutting-edge physicians are excited about the research that points to DCI as important in initiating and promoting autophagy, which is a cellular housekeeping process.
Many studies and trial results about D-chiro-inositol (DCI) have been published and searchable on reputable resources like NCBI and PubMed®.
The good news is that D-chiro-inositol is an extremely stable substance and is not affected by the extremes of temperature - hot or cold. Its efficacy is unchanged - very similar to table salt not losing taste if left out in the heat.
Because DCI is so rare in nature, it cannot be easily extracted from plants. Myo inositol is easier (cheaper) to extract. Our DCI is made by extracting pinitol (another form of inositol) from carob, then converting the pinitol to DCI.
This is a difficult process that only a few laboratories in the world perform. Corporate companies abandoned DCI when they realized that the cost of mass production, along with the marketing needed to educate the public, would put each bottle over one hundred dollars.
We spend almost nothing on advertising and keep our overhead low so we can make DCI available at 600mg. We truly believe in the positive impact DCI has had on people’s lives.
Yes, D-chiro-inositol (DCI) is a safe and healthy human metabolite. The Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994 (DSHEA) defines D-chiro-inositol as a nutritional supplement because it is a natural human metabolite and it is taken orally.
Like all human metabolites, vitamins and minerals included, D-chiro-inositol (DCI) is completely safe and often beneficial when taken in appropriate amounts. DCI is abundant in only a few foods, such as buckwheat ferrinetta, thus making it difficult to get substantial D-chiro-inositol from our diets.
D-chiro-inositol (DCI) is not FDA approved because DCI is an all-natural nutritional supplement. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approves drugs as treatments for certain diseases; however, the FDA does not approve nutritional supplements in the same way.
Instead, the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994 (DSHEA) defines whether or not a product is a nutritional supplement.
The Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994 (DSHEA) states there can be no limits set on the consumption of nutritional supplements. As a result of this legislation, the FDA does not require preapproval prior to the sale of nutritional supplements such as vitamins, minerals, and human metabolites such as D-chiro-inositol.
Our recommendation—again, based on major clinical trials—is to take one 600 mg capsule for every 130 pounds of body weight.
That is, if you weigh less than 130 pounds, take one capsule per day; if you weigh over 130 pounds, take take two capsules per day.
It is important to take Chiral Balance DCI on a regular schedule. If you forget, take the missed capsules as soon as possible and resume your regular schedule the next day.
Try to take your DCI before you eat so it's in your bloodstream to handle the insulin spike from food.
Yes. The capsule is made of hypromellose, a vegetable material.
There are few foods that contain significant amounts of DCI. This is why your body must make it from myo-inositol.
The foods with the highest content of DCI are buck wheat, soy-lecithin, carob and lentils. Following those are oranges (more concentrated in the skin and pulp and less in the juice), peanuts and beef liver. Finally with a lower content we find buckwheat farinetta and oats.
The amount of these foods you would have to eat to get a therapeutic effect is near impossible on an “average” diet.
